Three days of ILYO 2024 orchestral workshops are already behind us. What’s next?
The 12th edition of the International Lutosławski Youth Orchestra workshops began on August 18, 2024. The first day was entirely devoted to sectionals, where, under the supervision of experienced orchestra musicians from the best Polish and European ensembles, our young musicians polished the details of the repertoire of the coming concerts.
Classes were held in the following instrumental sections:
The day ended with a well deserved party attended both by the tutors and musicians.
Sectionals ended on the second day in the afternoon. Then the first tutti rehearsal took place – the International Lutosławski Youth Orchestra 2024 played together as one ensemble for the first time. After Maestro Przemysław Neumann's welcome, the first bars of Bernstein's Candide Overture filled the golden concert hall of Szczecin Philharmonic. That day, the young people also worked on Dvořák's 9th Symphony.
The next third and fourth days involved tutti rehearsals of the remaining pieces, lasting many hours. On August 21, the soloist Monika Sawczuk played with the International Lutosławski Youth Orchestra 2024 for the first time. Intensive rehearsals and work on every detail are necessary because ILYO will give two great symphonic concerts very soon.
