More than 80 young musicians from 20 countries will come together in Szczecin for an intensive week of rehearsals, preparing a challenging symphonic programme. After days of working side by side, they will bring the results to audiences in two concerts – first in the Golden Hall of the Szczecin Philharmonic, and then on the stage of NOSPR in Katowice.

The programme features Jean Sibelius’s Violin Concerto in D minor, performed by Zofia Anna Olesik. For audiences in Katowice, the concert offers a particularly exciting opportunity to hear the city’s own young violinist live. This October, Zofia will compete in the 17th International Henryk Wieniawski Violin Competition in Poznań, having become the first participant to qualify for this year’s competition. With more than 30 prizes and distinctions from national and international violin competitions to her name, she is one of the young Polish violinists to watch.

The programme also includes Grażyna Bacewicz’s Overture for Orchestra and Modest Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition in Maurice Ravel’s celebrated orchestration.

Both concerts will be conducted by Maestro Przemysław Neumann, General and Artistic Director of the Szczecin Philharmonic.
