The band Hoshii was formed in 2023 on the initiative of saxophonist Kuba Więcek, who invited Grzegorz Tarwid (synths), Max Mucha (bass guitar), and Miłosz Berdzik (drums) to join the project. Their music transcends traditional jazz boundaries, blending hip-hop, electronic sounds, and contemporary textures.
Following the release of their debut album in early 2024, the musicians launched the hoshii sessions – an online series of collaborations with favorite artists from the hip-hop and alternative scenes. Together, they reinterpret selected tracks in jazz-infused arrangements. So far, they’ve released over 30 episodes across three seasons, culminating in a sold-out concert at NOSPR featuring artists such as schafter, Kukon, The Dumplings, Daria ze Śląska, Kasia Lins, and Hubert.
Their second studio album, Her name was Yumi, marks a conscious departure from the genre constraints of European music – a search for sounds that spark hope and embody a free spirit. Musically, the band leans into deep, synth-driven bass lines, an intensified electronic soundscape, and layered sampling – redefining their approach to composition.
