Aleksandra ŚwigutAleksandra Świgut – pianist, soloist and chamber musician, Doctor of Musical Arts, teacher at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw. According to critics, “one of the most expressive personalities of the classical music scene”.

Laureate of the 17th International Edvard Grieg Piano Competition in Bergen and special awards: the audience and orchestra awards and the prestigious Steinway Prizewinners Concert Network award.

As a promoter of performance on period pianos, she won the 2nd prize at the International Chopin Competition on Period Instruments in Warsaw. She was also a semi-finalist of the Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Competition in Tel Aviv, participant of the 18th International Chopin Competition in Warsaw (2021) and laureate of numerous youth international piano competitions (including in Ettlingen, New Orleans and Enschede).

Aleksandra performed as soloist on the most prestigious music festivals, including Chopin and His Europe, Chopin Festival Nohant, Ludwig van Beethoven Easter Festival, Chopin a Paris Festival, International Chopin Festival in Duszniki Zdrój, Midis-Minimes Festival in Brussels, Chopin Genève Festival, Cremona Festival, Ascoli Piceno Festival, Eufonie Festival in Prague, Paderewski Festival in Raleigh (USA), and many others.

The artist is a frequent guest of elite European ensembles including the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra, Sinfonia Varsovia, Orchestra of the 18th Century, Netherlands Symphony Orchestra, AUKSO, Beethoven Academy Orchestra, Sinfonietta Cracovia, {oh!} Historical Orchestra, Szczecin Philharmonic Orchestra, Warsaw Philharmonic, Łódź Philharmonic, Opole Philharmonic, Kraków Philharmonic, Baltic Philharmonic and others, collaborating with outstanding conductors such as Lawrence Foster, Maxime Pascal, Aleksandr Marković, Michał Nesterowicz, Zoi Tsokanou, Marek Moś, Johannes Gustavsson, Grzegorz Nowak, Paweł Przytocki, Marek Wroniszewski, Przemysław Neumann and many others.

Aleksandra has three albums to her credit. The newest: “Portraits of Nature – Chopin & Grieg” recorded together with Michał Klauza and the Beethoven Academy Orchestra for the Orphèe Classics label. She also recorded an album with works by Fryderyk Chopin and with her own piece, performed on a historical Erard 1858 piano, released by the Fryderyk Chopin National Institute, as well as an album with the works of Witold Maliszewski recorded together with Przemysław Neumann and the Opole Philharmonic Orchestra for the DUX label.

In her own programs, she also performs with her sister Agnieszka Świgut – a violinist at the Royal Stockholm Opera, and in many chamber formations, including with cellist Marcin Zdunik, with whom she recorded an album with works by Robert Schumann in 2018.

Aleksandra also collaborates with the Wierszalin Theatre. In 2023, she created music for the play Dancing Konrad based on the themes of Adam Mickiewicz's “Dziady”, directed by Piotr Tomaszuk. The play was performed at the Kai Theatre in Tokyo in December 2023.

Aleksandra was also a scholarship holder of the National Children's Fund (2003-2010), which currently supports her teaching activities. In the past she was awarded with multiple scholarships from the Ministry of Culture, the Franciszek Wybrańczyk Foundation, the German Jutting Foundation, the Young Scientists scholarship and the Young Poland scholarship.

Aleksandra is a graduate of the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, the Academy of Music in Katowice and Gdańsk, and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London.
