The ILYO audition is conducted entirely online, allowing young classical musicians from around the world to apply without travelling or scheduling a specific audition time. All you need to do is prepare your video recordings and complete a simple online application form.

Please note: Auditions are open exclusively to musicians aged between 18 and 30
(born between September 7, 1996 and August 30, 2008).

How the online audition works?

STEP 1: Prepare your materials

HERE you will find a detailed list of required repertoire and orchestral excerpts for each instrument, along with the sheet music (excerpts only).

Prepare the following materials:

• video recordings of the required pieces
• your short bio in English (max 2000 characters)

Upload your video recordings as non-public (private) videos on YouTube, Google Drive, or a similar online platform, and make them accessible to anyone with the link.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

• Please prepare separate recordings: one featuring the required solo excerpts, and another presenting the obligatory orchestral excerpts.
• Applicants for the concertmaster position (violins only) must also include the additional required piece.
• We accept multiple video links if necessary (more than two are allowed), but not fewer than two.
• Recordings may be submitted with or without accompaniment.

STEP 2: Submit your application

Once all materials are ready, click the APPLICATION FORM button on the home page of our website. The application form becomes available on March 2, and closes on April 30, 2026 at 23:59 CET.

In the form, please:

• paste the links to your non-public video recordings
• paste your short bio in English (max 2000 characters)
• complete the required contact details and submit the application

STEP 3: Confirmation and results

Within a few working days of submission, you will receive a confirmation email from our team. At this stage, we verify that:

• all video links are accessible
• all necessary contact information has been provided

The audition results will be published in the NEWS section of our website. The exact publication date will be announced via our website and social media channels.

The selection process

Each year, members of the International Lutosławski Youth Orchestra are selected by the Tutors of the current edition of the project. The Tutors carefully review all submitted audition videos and make the final artistic decisions. In certain cases, selections are made in consultation with the conductor of the given edition.

Please note: Due to the large number of applications, we are unable to provide individual feedback to candidates who are not selected.
