Deeply rooted in folk music through family tradition, Kacper Malisz began taking violin lessons at the age of eight and has been performing actively since he was 13. Today, he is one of the most recognized figures on the Polish folk scene. His music represents a modern take on traditional music while preserving its authentic core. It's a testament to how ecstatic mazurka motifs, trance-like obereks, and lively polkas can form a contemporary sound in the best sense of the word.
In addition to leading his family band, he has collaborated with notable artists such as Atom String Quartet, Krzesimir Dębski, Michał Tokaj, Michał Barański, Krzysztof Ścierański, and Jan Smoczyński. He's been awarded numerous times by top festivals and publications, including three times at the Nowa Tradycja festival and four times by "Songlines" magazine. With his original trio, he has performed in Malaysia, Germany, Portugal, Estonia, Finland, the UK, Ireland, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Belgium, Ukraine, Hungary, and Slovakia. He is also a co-founder of the trio SUFERI, which fuses tradition with modern, often jazz-inspired language, while also drawing from electronic music, Romanian styles, and hip-hop. In this RUBTO concert, he will premiere his solo project.
