Conductor

Przemysław Neumann

He teaches conducting at the Academy of Music in Poznań, of which he is himself a graduate. He started with singing. He won the 1st prize at the Ludomir Różycki International Vocal Competition in Gliwice in 1999. But just three years later, in 2002, he took third place at the 3rd Young Conductors' Competition in Białystok.

As a conductor, he led leading Polish orchestras, including: the Warsaw Philharmonic , the Poznań Philharmonic, the Polish Radio Orchestra and Sinfonia Iuventus. For 9 artistic seasons he cooperated with the Poznań Musical Theater as a conductor and orchestra director. He also collaborated with the Grand Theater in Poznań and the Gliwice Musical Theater.

After defending his doctorate in 2009, he started research at the conducting department of the Academy of Music in Poznań. For Przemysław Neumann, his alma mater became a space for carrying out many educational and artistic projects, including concerts with the Symphony Orchestra (recording an album with music by Karol Kurpiński), the Sinfonietta Orchestra (of which he was its artistic director in 2009-2013), annual opera performances and student concerts at the Grand Theater in Poznań or concerts as part of the Kreaspiracje series, during which students and teachers performed together in one symphony orchestra. In 2019 he became professor at his alma mater. In 2019-20 he was the head of the Department of Symphony and Opera Conducting.

From September 1, 2015, Przemysław Neumann was the director of the Opole Philharmonic, where he initiated, among others, the series of concerts: Forgotten Polish Music. Together with the Opole Philharmonic Orchestra, he also made a number of album recordings focused on the achievements of Polish composers, including the three-CD album Witold Maliszewski Symphonic Works released in 2021, was nominated for the Fryderyk 2022 prize.

In August 2024, he conducted ILYO for the first time and debuted with the orchestra at the prestigious Krzysztof Penderecki European Centre for Music in Lusławice (South Poland). From September 2024, Maestro Neumann is the managing and artistic director of the Szczecin Philharmonic, and the chief conductor of the Szczecin Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra.

In previous editions ILYO was conducted by:
Ewa Strusińska (2013 – 2016)
Rune Bergmann (2017- 2021, 2023)
Ayyub Guliyev (2022)
