Budyń and Friends

The evening Budyń and Friends is a film screening and concert dedicated to Jacek “Budyń” Szymkiewicz – a charismatic musician, poet and creator whose art continues to inspire and move.

The entire evening will be filled with the story of Jacek "Budyń" Szymkiewicz – an exceptional, rebellious and sensitive artist whose work has permanently inscribed itself in the history of Polish alternative music.

Film screening Szkoda, że nareszcie

The evening begins with a screening of the film Szkoda, że nareszcie directed by Sebastian Juszczyk. This documentary presents Budyń in all his complexity – as a poet, musician, sensitive observer of the world, and a rebel unafraid of crossing boundaries. The film combines the artist’s own statements, conversations with his friends, and interviews with renowned figures of the music scene. It is complemented by video collages and animations that symbolically reflect his unique style and imagination. It is a story of music as a way of life, therapy, and self-creation, while also addressing relationships, mental health, and the challenges of growing up and creating in 1990s Poland.

Concert Budyń and Friends

The second part of the evening will feature a concert that musically complements the film story about Jacek “Budyń” Szymkiewicz. On stage, musicians from the bands he was associated with over the years will come together.

Pogodno, Babu Król and Chango will perform the most important songs from the many albums co-created by Budyń. Leading the vocals will be outstanding artists and people close to Jacek: Joanna Lewandowska, Adrianna Styrcz, Konrad Słoka, Piotr “Bajzel” Piasecki.
